The K+p → KNπ reaction near threshold

An analysis is done of the K+p → KNπ reaction in the three isospin channels by considering the Δ excitation term in the Nπ system and chiral contributions. A qualitative agreement with the few experimental data available is found in all channels. We find a region of energies where the chiral terms dominate and resonance contributions are small, which can serve as a testing ground of chiral perturbation theory in the strange sector.
