Abstract :
We have calculated level densities for 48−50Cr and 50,51Mn using the Shell Model Monte Carlo method. As residual interaction we use a pairing+quadrupole force supplemented by an additional isospin repulsion which is treated in perturbation theory. The SMMC results compare favorably with empirical backshifted Fermi gas level densities.
