a0(980)→γγ and f0(980)→γγ: a consistent description

We work out the Linear Sigma Model (LSM) predictions for the 2γ decay rates of the a0(980), f0(980) mesons under the assumption that they are respectively the I=1 and I=0 members of the q̄q scalar nonet. Agreement with experimental data is achieved provided we include the contribution of a κ meson with mass ≈900 MeV, and a scalar mixing angle (σ−f0 mixing in the {|NS〉,|S〉} basis) ϕs≈−14°, as predicted by the model.
