Density dependence of the EMC effect

From the mass number dependence of the nucleus-to-deuteron cross section ratios for deep inelastic lepton scattering we extract the dependence of the EMC effect upon nuclear density. The resulting almost linear density dependence at x>0.4 is found to be in agreement with the one theoretically predicted from realistic spectral functions that account for binding and short-range correlation effects.
