Abstract :
A model for strings in Minkowski space based on Konopelchenkoʹs generalized representation of surfaces is presented. It is shown how a dynamical equation for the string coordinates can be obtained from the Nambu–Goto action. A class of exponential solutions to the combined Konopelchenko system and dynamical equations are obtained. These can be used to write general solutions of the wave equation composed of right and left moving solutions by using the superposition principle.
