Generalizations of the Carlton-Kimball distribution for a targetʹs future location

This paper addresses the problem of searching for a target in the plane given only an initial position estimate and bounds on its speed and direction. Exact results are derived for determining the position density of the targetʹs future location assuming constant linear motion. In particular, we derive a generalization of the Carlton-Kimball distribution.
