Abstract
A continuous function is approximated by step functions with given number of break points. The approximations are nonlinear. Local as well as global optimization strategies based on fixed-point analysis are integrated with branch and bound techniques for multivariate Lipschitz minimization. Branching strategies are based on the structure of attracting domains.
