The asymptotic behavior of monotone difference equations of higher order

For difference equations which satisfy a strict monotonicity property a comparison principle is shown. This is used to prove relative stability for all solutions which implies, in particular, that all solutions must converge to a limit provided there is at least one bounded nonzero solution.
