The limit entropy for sequences constructed from composites

We derive a formula for the limit entropy of a symbol sequence constructed by independently choosing and concatenating words of different lengths distributed according to given probabilities. The result is applied to a simple model exhibiting the phenomenon of intermittency type I. The scaling of the limit entropy as a function of the parameter controlling the chaos to order transition is compared with scaling relations of the corresponding Lyapunov exponent and excellent agreement is found.
