Abstract :
This combined field- and laboratory study is focused on the activities of several detoxication enzymes like the P-450 monooxygenases, the soluble and microsomal glutathione S-transferases and glucosyltransferases in the marine macroalgae Fucus vesiculosus collected from different sample sites in the North Sea to evaluate the influence of different environmental exposures in comparison to optimal laboratory cultures or diesel exposed algae. The results are interpreted by HASSE-diagrams in order to distinguish between the different sample sites and the laboratory treatments. By construction of a HASSE-diagram the sample sites Helgoland, Neuharlingersiel, Bremerhaven, Büsum, Hvive Sande, laboratory and diesel-exposed, were considered objects and the enzyme activities were attributes. The HASSE-diagram technique was used for the interpretation of all single attributes and in a mixture of all attributes to work out the similarities and/or the differences between the different sample sites.
