A software tool for end-of-life-cycle consideration within a DSS approach to environmentally conscious design and manufacturing

Currently, more and more companies are becoming interested in designing their products to cause the least harm to the environment. This is called Design For the Environment (DFE) and one major tool in the environmental assessment of a design is Life Cycle Analysis (LCA). Life Cycle Analysis involves considering the environmental impact of every stage in the productʹs life, ending with retirement. This paper discusses a framework for a Design For the Environment software system and discusses one tool which has been developed.
