Design and prototype of a multimedia based statistical tutor

Statistical analysis is one of the most versatile tools used in the Industrial Engineering function. Yet, statistics poses a major dilemma to many students of I.E. and to practicing I.E.ʹs because the concepts are not well understood by them. For this reason, statistical analysis is often misused in many cases. We have designed and are currently developing a multimedia-based statistical tutor, using ToolBookTM. This tutor gives the end user capabilities to explore, interactively, the fundamental concepts underlying the various techniques commonly used by Industrial Engineers. Through this exploration, the end user discovers the theory behind the techniques as well as many dynamic examples within the engineering domain.
