A knowledge engineering framework for rapid design

A framework for integrated product development in a knowledge-based engineering environment is presented in this paper. The idea is to bring the issues of manufacturing and assembly right at the design stage. The primary focus of the research reported in this paper is to significantly reduce the product development lead time.
