Abstract
Sports haveworldwideappeal.Professionalsportleaguesinvolvesignificantinvestmentsinplayers.Events
such astheOlympicsGames,theFootballWorldCupandthemajorgolfandtennistournamentsgenerate
huge worldwidetelevisionaudiencesandmanysportsaremulti-milliondollarindustries.Akeyaspectof
sporting eventsistheabilitytogenerateschedulesthatoptimizelogisticissuesandthatareseenasfair
to allthosewhohaveaninterest.Thisisnotjustrestrictedtogeneratingthefixtures,butalsotoother
areas suchasassigningofficialstothegamesinthecompetitions.Thispaperprovidesanannotatedbibli-
ography for sports scheduling articles. Thisareacanbetracedbackover40years.Itisnoticeablethatthe
number ofpapershasriseninrecentyears,demonstratingthatscientificinterestisincreasinginthisarea.
