Abstract :
In thispaperwepresentanewevolutionarymethodforcomplex-processoptimization.Itispartiallybased
on theprinciplesofthescattersearchmethodology,butitmakesuseofinnovativestrategiestobemore
effective inthecontextofcomplex-processoptimizationusingasmallnumberoftuningparameters.In
particular, weintroduceanewcombinationmethodbasedonpathrelinking,whichconsidersabroader
area aroundthepopulationmembersthanpreviouscombinationmethods.Wealsouseapopulation-
update methodwhichimprovesthebalancebetweenintensificationanddiversification.Newstrategies
to intensifythesearchandtoescapefromsuboptimalsolutionsarealsopresented.Theapplicationofthe
proposed evolutionaryalgorithmtodifferentsetsofbothstate-of-the-artcontinuousglobaloptimization
and complex-processoptimizationproblemsrevealsthatitisrobustandefficientforthetypeofproblems
intended tosolve,outperformingtheresultsobtainedwithothermethodsfoundintheliterature.
