Abstract
Circular itemsareoftenproducedfromstockplatesusingthecuttingandstampingprocessthatconsists
of twostages.Aguillotinemachinedividestheplateintostripsatthecuttingstage,andthenapress
punches outtheitemsfromthestripsatthestampingstage.Thecuttingcostatthefirststageoften
increases withthenumberofstripsinthecuttingplan.Anapproachispresentedforthetwo-dimensional
cutting stockproblemofthestripsatthecuttingstage.Theobjectiveistominimizethesumofthe
material andthecuttingcosts.Theapproachformulatestheproblemasanintegerlinearprogramming,
and usesacolumngenerationmethodforgeneratingthecuttingpatterns.Thecuttingpatternshavethe
feature thateachcutontheplateproducesjustonestrip.Thecomputationalresultsindicatethatthe
approach cangreatlyreducethenumberofstripsinthecuttingplan.
