  • Abstract
    This paperpresentssomeresultsonthenumberofcollisionsin p-persistent CSMA/CDprotocols.Based on thetimetoreachthemaximumnumberofblockedterminals,wederiveiterativeschemesforits mass functionandmoments.AnimportantfeatureoftheunderlyingMarkovianframeworkisthatthe arrivalpatternneednotbeaPoissonprocess.Packettransmissionrequirementsanddurationsof collisionsarebothofphase-type.Numericalresultsarepresentedtoillustratetheeffectsofthe retransmissionprobabilityandthedurationofoneslotonthenumberofcollisions.
