Abstract :
Schedulingofquaycranesatcontainerterminalsisafieldofgrowinginterestinresearchandpractice.
In theliterature,wefinddiversemodelsforquaycraneschedulingthatconsidertheserviceofcontainer
vesselsatdifferentlevelsofdetail.Currently,however,thereexistsnobasistocomparethequalityof
planningthatisachievedfromthesemodels.Thereisalsonoplatformavailablethatallowscomparing
differentsolutionproceduresandinvestigatingconditionswheretheyperformwellorpoorly.This
paper presentsaunifiedapproachforevaluatingtheperformanceofdifferentmodelclassesand
solution procedures.Theapproachisdemonstratedbyinvestigatingthesuitabilityofthreemodels
withinacomprehensivecomputationalstudy.
