Abstract :
This researchcomparestheperformanceofvariousheuristicsandonemetaheuristicforunrelated
parallelmachineschedulingproblems.Theobjectivefunctionstobeminimizedaremakespan,total
weightedcompletiontime,andtotalweightedtardiness.Weusetheleastsignificantdifference(LSD)
test toidentifyrobustheuristicsthatperformsignificantlybetterthanothersforavarietyofparallel
machineenvironmentswiththesethreeperformancemeasures.Computationalresultsshowthatthe
proposedmetaheuristicoutperformsotherexistingheuristicsforeachofthethreeobjectiveswhenrun
with aparametersettingappropriatefortheobjective.
