Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to characterize the smooth points of the unit ball of L(1p, E), where 1 < p < ∞ and E is an arbitrary Banach space, under the assumption that H(1p, E) is an M-ideal in L(1p, E). In particular we obtain the description of the smooth points of the unit ball of L(1p, 1r) for p, r ∈ (1, ∞).
