Generalized Legendre Polynomials

Orthogonal polynomials have been extensively investigated. In this paper we construct a sequence of orthogonal Dirichlet polynomials which generalize Legendre polynomials. We show that our new system satisfies a generalized Rodrigues formula. We also extend a well known result concerning the distribution of the zeros of Legendre polynomials.
