Identifiability of Operators for Evolution Equations in Banach Spaces with an Application to Transport Equations

This paper deals with the identifiability problem for evolution equations in Banach spaces with unknown operators and initial values. Under the assumption that the operators generate C0-semigroups and the states are observed for t ≥ t0 > 0 several abstract identifiability results for operators are established by means of spectral theory for linear operators. As an application of the results the identifiability of macroscopic total cross sections of transport equations is given.
