Globalization and Ethnic Identities (Case Study – the Province of Kohgolooyeh and Booyerahmad, Iran)

ABSTRACT: The current research is titled as “globalization and ethnic identities (case study – Kohgologyeh Province, Iran) and has been carried out by a survey method among the people of the province.” The statistical community includes individuals with more than 20 years ago among the families residing at the province. 374 were sampled. The pretest questionnaire was distributed among 10 percent of the sample and finally they were completed among the statistical sample at spring 2012. The research is theoretically based on four aspects of globalization including society, Culture, politics and economy. Here, the effects of such variables as age marriage, profession and education, using mass media were measured in relation to the dimensions of globalization and ethnic identity. Mass identities including the global and national and national ethnics were compared with each other. The people of the province considered their first priority as depending on national identity and followed by the ethnic and global identities. The results from analyzing two variables of the data (t test and variance analysis and regression analysis) described that there is no relationship between global and ethnic identities.
