Abstract :
ABSTRACT: Sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is one of the most important oilseed crops worldwide. This study was performed on in vitro shoot formation of Iranian Sesame cultivar (Naztakshakhe). The explants (Hypocotyl and cotyledon) were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium supplement with 30 g L-1 sucrose, 8 g L-1 agar, ? naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and different concentration of 6- benzy amio purine (BAP). For each treatment, the mean number of shoot per hypocotyl and cotyledon was considered. According to the variance analysis results, simple effects of plant growth regulator (BAP) and explants was significant on Shoot formation and among two explants hypocotyl was defined better than cotyledon for shoot formation. The best response to shoot induction was observed in medium with 6.0 mg L-1. Root initiation and elongation was observed in rooting medium which used in this experiment. The findings of this study can be used in new biotechnological strategies especially introduction of economically important genes to this oldest crop as the king of oil seeds for improvement of important agronomic traits.
