The effect of group schema therapy in decrease marital conflict and Increase family efficiency

The present study was investigated the effects of schema therapy on the increase of family performance and reduce of marital conflict. For this purpose, 40 couples with marital conflict randomly categorized in two groups: the experiment group (20 pairs) and control (20 pairs).Group training of schema therapy was performed in nine sessions with duration of 90 minutes, once a week. The Young Schema Questionnaire (Short Form), Family Functioning and marital conflict were completed in both pre-and post-tests. Schema therapy is a new approach in treatment of patients with problems of character- cognitive. The original concept of schema-focused treatment approach is early maladaptive schemas. The findings show that with targeting and changing of early maladaptive schemas, marital conflict is reduced and thus the family performance is improved.
