Abstract
The paper presents and discusses internal pressure and discharge coefficients for a building with wind-driven cross-ventilation caused
by sliding window openings on two adjacent walls. The study found that both coefficients vary considerably with the opening area
(porosity of wall(s)) and the inlet to outlet ratio. Comparisons with previous work were also carried out. Experimental results verify
the unsteady pressure and velocity field, particularly in the case of cross-ventilation with large opening areas. For such cases, a simulation
sensitivity analysis of wind-induced building ventilation confirms that airflow rates vary considerably when different discharge coefficient
values are used.
