  • Abstract
    TOSQANisanexperimentalprogramundertakenbytheInstitutdeRadioprotectionetdeSûretéNucléaire(IRSN)inordertoperformthermalhydrauliccontainmentstudies.TheTOSQANfacilityisalargeenclosuredevotedtosimulatetypicalaccidentalthermalhydraulicflowconditionsinnuclear-pressurizedwaterreactor(PWR)containment.TheTOSQANfacilitywhichishighlyinstrumentedwithnon-intrusiveopticaldiagnosticsisparticularlyadaptedtonuclearsafetyCFDcodevalidation.Thepresentworkisdevotedtostudyingtheinteractionofawatersprayinjectionusedasamitigationmeansinordertoreducethegaspressureandtemperatureinthecontainment,toproducegasesmixingandwashoutoffissionproducts.Inordertohaveabetterunderstandingofheatandmasstransfersbetweenspraydropletsandthegasmixture,andtoanalyzemixingeffectsduetosprayactivation,weperformdetailedcharacterizationofthetwo-phaseflow.
