Abstract
Thecomputationaltwo-fluiddynamics(CTFD)codeFLUBOXisdevelopedatGRSforthemultidimensionalsimulationoftwo-phaseflows.Thesingle-pressuretwo-fluidmodelisusedasbasisofthesimulation.Abasicmathematicalpropertyofthetwo-fluidmodelofFLUBOXisthehyperboliccharacteroftheadvection.ThenumericalsolutionmethodsofFLUBOXmakeexplicituseofthehyperbolicstructureofthecoefficientmatrices.Thesimulationoftwo-phaseflowphenomenaneeds,apartfromtheconservationequationsforeachphase,anadditionaltransportequationfortheinterfacialareaconcentration.Theconcentrationoftheinterfacialareaisoneofthekeyparametersforthemodelingofinterfacialfrictionforcesandinterfacialtransferterms.Anewtransportequationfortheinterfacialareaconcentrationisindevelopment.Itdescribesthedynamicchangeoftheinterfacialareaconcentrationduetomassexchangeandaforcebalanceatthephaseboundary.ResultsfromFLUBOXcalculationsfordifferentexperimentsoftwo-phaseflowsinverticaltubesarepresentedaspartofthevalidation.
