Abstract :
EconomicsofnuclearpowerhasbeenassessedbyvariousEuropeanstudies.OfparticularinterestintheFinnishstudywhichsupportedthedecisiontobuildFinlandʹs5thnuclearpowerunit. Sensitivitystudies,aswellasthe2005updateofthisstudy,demonstratetherobustnessofnuclearcompetitivenesscomparedtootherelectricitygenerationmeans. EPRisAREVAʹsgeneration3+reactor:alargeevolutionarypowerreactorwithimprovedsafety.EPRisbeingbuiltattheFinnishsiteofOlkiluoto.ItisbeinglaunchedinFranceatFlamanvilleanditislicensedintheUSAinviewofitsdeploymentonthatmarket.IthasalsobeenofferedtoChinainresponsetotheGeneration3internationalinvitationtobid.
