Abstract :
Thefeasibilitystudyhasbeenperformedasanefforttoapplytheelectrolessnickel-platingmethodforaproposedcountermeasuretomitigateprimarywaterstresscorrosioncracking(PWSCC)ofnickel-basealloysinnuclearpowerplants.Inordertounderstandthecorrosionbehaviorofnickel-platingathightemperaturewater,theelectrochemicalpropertiesofelectrolessnickel-platedalloy600specimensexposedtosimulatedpressurizedwaterreactor(PWR)primarywaterwereexperimentallycharacterizedinhightemperatureandhighpressurewatercondition.And,theresistancetotheflowacceleratedcorrosion(FAC)testwasinvestigatedtocheckthedurabilityofplatedlayersinhigh-velocitywater-flowingenvironmentathightemperature.Theplatedsurfaceswereexaminedbyusingbothscanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM)andenergydispersivespectroscopy(EDS)afterexposurestothecondition.Fromthisstudy,itisfoundthatthecorrosionresistanceofelectrolessnickel-platedAlloy600ishigherthanthatofelectrolyticplatingin290°Cwater.
