Abstract
ABSTRACT:In present study, the effect of salicylic acid (SA) treatment at different concentrations (0, 1, 2, 4 mM) and application stages[pre-harvest (PRH), post-harvest (POH) and PRH + POH) on quality indices of table grapescv. ‘BidanehSefid’ was studied. The results showed that SAsignificantly improved the post- harvest performance of berries in all studied traits including:soluble solid content, dry matter, sugar/acid ratioand fruit overall quality. SAespecially at 2 and 4 mM decreased water losses, fungal decay and rachis browning. Fruits treated at POS and PRH + POH maintained their quality much better than PRH treated fruits. The results indicated that salicylic acid can be used as a safe alternative for chemicals to improve peach storability.
