Abstract :
For numerical methods of Runge—Kutta type, the value of the stability function at infinity, R(∞), is a key factor to the solution of stiff ODEs and DAEs. In particular, methods with R(∞) = 0 are especially attractive. The aim of this paper is to make some preliminary comparisons of two recently introduced approaches to the construction of L-stable parallel general linear methods, that differ essentially by the behaviour they require at infinity.
