Experiments with search directions for a generalized CG method Original Research Article

The limitations of generalized CG methods are now well known. To improve the convergence we must get out of the Krylov subspace by preconditioning, i.e., by better search directions. We report in this paper about attempts via multilevel methods and via direct improvements of the search direction. This paper is an extended version of (Schönauer, 1997).
