A note on Mickensʹ finite-difference scheme for the Lotka–Volterra system Original Research Article

We show that a major improvement in the accuracy of the numerical solutions can be made for the scheme proposed by Mickens to solve the Lotka–Volterra system [Appl. Numer. Math. 45 (2003) 309]. Our modifications take into consideration a symmetry of the differential equations which was not included in Mickensʹ work.
