Abstract
In this paper we deal with recent computational and visual advances in multigrid grid generation. We present the multigrid methods, and the computational tools and visual techniques which characterize the visual grid-generation environment we are developing. We illustrate full-FAS multigrid algorithms which are becoming faster and more effective for applications, and are also able to overcome multigrid anisotropy. We show how the multigrid computation has been made user-friendly, along with the generation of boundary-fitted grids on 2D and 3D domains, by the design of the interactive visual system GENSY. We describe the last system release which allows either expert or quite novice users to easily carry out multiblock multigrid grid generation, get visual information during computation, and eventually interactively improve the generation strategy.
