Abstract :
Aim: suicide is one of the most urgent problems related to mental health, which studies have shown that it has an increasing process among university students. The goal of this paper is to survey the effect of cognitive therapy on a case of male suicidal depressed student. Method: post facto has been the method of study in this paper, in which he has been under counseling for 8 sessions and followed-up for a term of three months. Means of this paper were; Beck depression inventory (BDI), general health questionnaire (GHQ-28),depression micro-scale, symptom check list -90- revised and Beck scale for suicidal ideation(BSSI). Average, diagram and difference of scores have been used for analyzing the data. Result: analyses showed that in all scales, pre-test, post-test, consistency of post test scores and follow-up term there were satisfying differences among average of gained scores. Conclusion: performance of cognitive therapy on suicidal depression patient results in gaining insight and reducing the syndrome of depression and suicide and improving of general health.
