Abstract :
Introduction: Aspects of “mental health promotion” programs in WHO mainly have been care
and training relating to nutritional, physical, environmental, and communication skills. However,
more recent social and environmental changes necessitated strategies which might improve
effectiveness of these programs. The aim of this study was to develop a new model of mental
health promotion based on creative mind and personality. Method: The model was constructed
in three main parts (creativity, self efficacy and coping strategies), as well as, five operational
levels (Meta-cognition, personality, linguistic, motivational, and behavioral) and examined in a
sample of students in Tehran University. Conclusions: The model was proved as an effective
procedure for mental health promotion of undergraduate students. Making Creative mind and
personality could develop potentials to mobilize inner capacities and to be creative and effective
in coping with stress and trauma during life.
