Abstract
Aims: The main aim of this study was to investigate effects of family relationships and the
ability of problem solving.Method: To get the purpose of the research, 183 high school
students including 99 girls and 84 boys were examined by questionnaire whit 0.84 alpha
coefficients.Results: The cooperative interaction had significant effect on problem solving (B
= 0.197, t = 2.249, P < 0.026). The result of t-test showed that girls had higher scores in
problem solving ability (t = 3.127, P < 0.002).Conclusion: Parents have an important role in
shaping their sons and daughters problem solving abilities. The family interactions can
facilitate problem solving process especially if parents support their childrenʹsdecisions.
