Abstract
ABSTRACT:The history of land consolidation plan in Iran goes back to the mid-1960s, when the implementation of this plan started in Mazandaran Province. However, despite 50 years of experience, itis notevaluated as a successful plan and there are serious challenges for farmers to adopt it.Consequently, this study was carried out to identify factors whichcontribute to the farmers’ resistance to the adoption of land consolidation by farmers in Mazandaran province, Iran.The studied group waspaddy farmers who did not adopt land consolidation; from them259 farmers were selected using cluster sampling method.Factor analysis show that ten general factors are main barriers ofadoption among farmers including heritage law, population increase, financial issues, land topography, education, governmental factors and finally agricultural issues.
