Abstract :
A terrace for image is an arrangement image of the image elements of image such that the sets of differences image and image image between them contain each element of image exactly twice. For image odd, many procedures have been published for constructing power-sequence terraces for image; each such terrace may be partitioned into segments one of which contains merely the zero element of image whereas each other segment is either (a) a sequence of successive powers of an element of image or (b) such a sequence multiplied throughout by a constant. We now present a new general power-sequence approach that yields image terraces for all odd primes image less than image except for image. It also yields terraces for some groups image with image where image is an odd prime, and for some image with image where image and image are distinct primes greater than image. Each new terrace has at least one segment consisting of successive powers of image, modulo image.
