An efficient preparation of 6I,IV dihydroxy permethylated β-cyclodextrin

We report on a straightforward synthesis of 2I–VII,3I–VII,6II,III,V–VII-nonadeca-O-methylcyclomaltoheptaose, a methylated β-cyclodextrin derivative bearing two 6I,IV hydroxyl groups, from its easily available benzylated counterpart.
