The Kyoto negotiations on climate change – an arithmetic perspective

This viewpoint discusses the necessary and sufficient conditions of CO2 emission intensity for reducing CO2 emissions and achieving the Kyoto Protocol. It approaches the problem from an arithmetic perspective. The application found that it would be virtually difficult, for the USA, the EU and Japan, to achieve the Kyoto Protocol, if their economic growth rate remained at its previous high rates.
