Analytical quality control for the UK Acid Waters Monitoring Network

The results of a series of 14 inter-laboratory proficiency tests undertaken over 7 years for the UK Acid Waters Monitoring Network are summarised. The tests provide an illustration of the accuracy and comparability of analysis for laboratories that supply data to the network. Performance with respect to accuracy targets defined for the network has been satisfactory for the majority of determinands of interest in studies of acidification.
