Abstract
Within the framework of a modeling problem related to a pollutant emission in the vicinlty of a motorway (i.e. at a local scale), a calculation of nitric oxide transport including chemical reactions with ambient ozone is attempted. The acrodynamic properties of a neutral boundary layer are given and the mean concentrations of chemical species are predicted making use of a model in which the effect of turbulence upon chemical reactions is taken into account. It is evident that under the conditions of the study, turbulence fluctuations may noticeably influence chemical reaction rates and, in particular, lower the destruction of nitric oxides.
