Abstract :
The uptake of cigarette smoke by a variety of clothing fabrics was determined. The tested fabrics included wool,
linen, cotton, silk, rayon, acetate and polyester. While a variety of factors effect such absorption, polyester fabrics
were found to significantly take up less smoke than all the other tested cloths. A simple and rapid technique is
described for measuring such absorption
