Surface charge transfer in plastically deformed Si

The (123) surface in plastically deformed Si was investigated by the surface photovoltage (SPV) technique. Pronounced qualitative effects of dislocations on the surface charge and its kinetics under laser pulses were observed and explained by invoking charge transfer from the surface to the bulk of the sample via conducting dislocation segments.
