Abstract :
A study has been made on the surface characterization for analyzing the factor of cell adhesion controlled system with the tissue compatibility of ion bombarded polymers. Substrates used were polystyrene (PS) dishes and polypropylene (PP) films. Ne+ ion bombardments were performed at an energy of 150 keV with a fluence of 1 × 1015ion/cm2. Ion bombarded PS and PP exhibit higher adhesion of Endothelial cell. XPS results show that ion bombardment destroys the original chemical bonds and induces new functional groups. It is considered that the drastic change of surface chemical bonding states by Ne Bombardment brings the increase of Endothelial cell adhesion.
