Abstract :
An apparatus for positron-annihilation-induced Auger electron spectroscopy has been constructed at the intense slow positron beam-line of the Electrotechnical Laboratory. The energy of Auger electrons is measured with a time-of-flight technique. The combination of inhomogeneous magnetic field and pulsed positron beam enables us to measure positron-annihilation-induced Auger electron spectra with high resolution (ΔE/E∼ 0.1), with low background, and with high count rate (∼ 10 min/spectrum).
