High-efficiency photocathodes on the NEA-GaAs basis

We have investigated three types of GaAs NEA photocathodes-polycrystalline on the molybdenum substrate, homoepitaxial and glass-sealed (semitransparent). It was found that any of these cathodes can be a stable high-efficient source of electrons, with maximum quantum yield 20–50%.
