Abstract :
Low-cost, easily fabricated dry cells were constructed by gluing epoxidized styrene-butadiene-cupric oxide conducting copolymer on magnesium or aluminium foils, using a solid electrolyte made from polyvinyl-alcohol (PVA) and polyethylene-oxide (PEO). The e.m.f. values of the cells ranged from 0.45 to 1.24 V and their efficiencies from 1.6 to 8.1 mW h cm−3, or 1.8 to 9.2 W h kg−1.
